Influence of Cairo Metro Tunnel Excavation on Pile Deep Foundation of the Adjacent Underground Structures: Numerical Study

Day by day the call to solve traffic congestion problems is increasing. Subway tunnels and high-speed railway are commonly used for transportation. Therefore, tunnel construction induces soil movement, which in turn affects stability integrity of adjacent existing buildings. A series numerical simulations have been established investigate effects Greater Cairo Metro–Line 3-Phase-1 on pile cap foundations Garage El-Attaba building. Many parameters investigated such as diameter distance between at different axis deep shallow tunnel. After thorough analysis results’ simulation, it was found that tunneling additional axial forces bending moment well increasing settlement lateral deflection. Moreover, results obtained from parametric study show depth has a much significant effect piles responses. Finally, an impact responses foundation influenced when very close vicinity pile, its modest negligible if located far away
